vision · perspective · clarity from height · seeing the whole
Upright
The eagle sees what no one on the ground can see — the whole picture, the connections, the pattern from above. Rise above the details now. You have been too close to this for too long. Gain some height, some distance, some perspective. The answer is visible from up here.
Reversed
You are so high above things that you have lost touch with the ground, or your eagle's eye has become cold and detached. Vision without compassion is just surveillance. Come down from the sky sometimes. Remember what the world looks like from the level of the grass.
Irish lore
The eagle (Iolar) was one of the oldest animals in Irish tradition, consulted in the tales of the Oldest Animals for its vast memory and perspective. Eagles nested on the highest cliffs and were associated with sovereignty, vision, and the ability to see truth from a great distance.
