Irish lore
The Hill of Tara (Teamhair) was the seat of the High Kings of Ireland, where the Lia Fáil (Stone of Destiny) cried out beneath the feet of the rightful king. Tara was the symbolic centre of Ireland, the place where the five provinces met and sovereignty was conferred by the goddess of the land.
