Irish lore
Dolmens are megalithic tombs found across Ireland — great capstones balanced on upright slabs, some weighing over 100 tonnes. In folk tradition, they were called "Diarmuid and Gráinne's Bed," after the lovers who fled across Ireland. They are monuments to the dead and to the living's capacity for monumental effort.
