curiosity · emotional exploration · the first stirring · sensitivity
Upright
A single pebble dropped in still water sends ripples to every shore. You are that pebble now — small, perhaps, but your impact is spreading further than you can see. Follow your curiosity wherever it leads. The ripple does not know its own reach, and neither do you.
Reversed
You may be causing ripples you are not aware of, or shrinking back from the water for fear of disturbing it. Sensitivity is a gift, but paralysis is not. Drop the pebble. The water can handle it.
Irish lore
In Irish folk tradition, the first ripple on a still morning lake was said to be a message from the Otherworld. Children were taught to watch the water for signs — a ripple without wind meant the sídhe were near. Sensitivity to the subtle was valued as a form of knowing.
