strength · sovereignty · endurance · deep roots
Upright
Oak does not bend — it stands. You have the strength for this, deeper than you know. Your roots are in the bedrock now, and what the wind cannot move, it must go around. This is your sovereignty, your ground to hold. Hold it.
Reversed
Stubbornness is not the same as strength. If you are standing firm on the wrong ground, all the roots in the world will not save you. Oak endures, but even oak knows when to drop its leaves and rest.
Irish lore
Oak (Dair) was the most sacred tree of the druids — the word "druid" itself may mean "oak-knower." The great oaks of Ireland were gathering places, seats of judgment, and symbols of enduring sovereignty. Kildare (Cill Dara) means "church of the oak."
