Seven of Winds

transformation · beauty · love · patience in suffering

Upright

The Children of Lir were swans for nine hundred years, and they did not stop singing. Transformation is happening, and it may take longer than you wish. But even in the waiting, there is beauty — in your endurance, in your grace, in the song you sing while the shape of your life changes around you.

Reversed

You have been in this form too long, or you are resisting the transformation that would set you free. The swan is beautiful, but it was not always a swan, and it will not always be one. Let the change come. The enchantment must end for the next life to begin.

Irish lore

The Children of Lir were transformed into swans by their jealous stepmother Aoife and spent nine hundred years on the waters of Ireland, singing songs of such beauty that all who heard them wept. Swans in Irish tradition are always more than they seem — often people under enchantment.
