The Chieftain

Upright

True authority is not taken — it is earned through generosity and fairness. You are being asked to hold steady, to protect what matters, and to share your table. Lead with an open hand, not a closed fist.

Reversed

Power without generosity is tyranny, and rigidity without warmth is just a stone wall. Ask yourself: are you leading, or simply controlling? The Dagda's cauldron never emptied because he never hoarded it.

Irish lore

The Dagda, "the Good God," was chief of the Tuatha Dé Danann. He carried an enormous club that could kill with one end and restore life with the other, and his cauldron, the Undry, could feed an army and never run empty. Sovereignty in Ireland was a sacred bond between ruler and land.
