Upright
Step away from the noise. The answers you are looking for are not in other people's opinions — they are in the quiet of your own company. Climb the hill, close the door, light your own candle. The wisdom is already in you.
Reversed
Solitude is medicine, but isolation is poison. If you have been alone too long, it may be time to come down from the mountain. And if you are hiding from the world, ask yourself what you are really hiding from.
Irish lore
The wise woman or bean feasa was a figure found in every Irish townland — one who lived apart, who knew the herbs, the cures, the old prayers. The early Christian hermits of Ireland, too, sought God on remote islands and mountaintops, continuing a tradition of sacred solitude far older than Christianity.
