Samhain · the ancestors · reckoning · rising · the call
Upright
The ancestors are calling, and it is time to answer for what you have done and left undone. This is not punishment — it is an accounting, a clearing of the books before the new year begins. Face it honestly, and you will walk forward lighter.
Reversed
You may be avoiding a reckoning that is overdue, or judging yourself more harshly than any ancestor would. The dead do not condemn — they witness. If you cannot face the past, start with one small truth and build from there.
Irish lore
Samhain, the great festival on the night of October 31st, was the Irish new year — a night when the dead returned and accounts were settled. It was a time of truth-telling, of honouring the ancestors, and of acknowledging what was over so that what was coming could begin. The great assembly at Tara was held at Samhain.
