You may be ignoring a boundary that exists for good reason, or you are so afraid of what lies beneath that you will not go near the mound at all. The fairy fort is not a trap; it is a threshold. Approach with respect, not fear.
Irish lore
Fairy forts (ráths) are the circular earthworks that dot the Irish countryside — over 60,000 of them. In tradition, they are entrances to the Otherworld, homes of the sídhe. Disturbing a fairy fort brought terrible luck. Farmers ploughed around them for centuries, and many still do.
